The Art N’ Good Feelings Personal Blog

by

Hello! This is the first ever art n’ good feelings the blog, based off the newsletter, based off the Instagram handle I came up with in college. This blog series will feature secret sketches, happy things, probably pics of my dog, and all the memes that have made me laugh recently. It’s gonna rule so stick around.

The Art

In this blog you will mostly be looking at my non-professional art. Keep that in mind and bask in it’s imperfections, that’s what I do.

I was recently inspired by an artist I love named Kristen to carve some stamps for t-shirts. I wanted to make them all small wildlife native to Colorado! I haven’t gotten around to trying to sell these t-shirts yet, so if you’d like one let me know! Eventually I’d love to sell them to t-shirt shops around town. I’m pretty proud of how nice they look! Carving all the stamps took absolutely forever but now that I have them, I can keep using them for anything!

The other two sketches are from a retreat I went to recently. More on those later.

The Good Feelings

2024 has been the year of retreats. I keep finding myself being invited to retreats and I try to say yes to everything that sounds fun 🙂 It’s a winning strategy.

The first one was an Artist retreat up in Rocky Mountain National Park. It turns out the lodging is a lot cheaper in the winter! Look at those views! We had a blast. We made art, drank mulled wine, talked about our goals and the future. Every morning we would wake up to watch the sun rise over the mountain and just bask in it’s beauty. I felt rejuvenated, and relaxed. My cup felt so full, I was ready for anything.

Retreats are powerful, and they don’t have to be expensive or fancy. This one was basically just three girl friends doing art and having a cozy little adventure. My two friends pictured above are also artists! Amanda does beautiful art with pen, ink, and watercolor. Kendra runs a podcast, draws, and sews. Find Amanda HERE and Kendra HERE.

The retreat I just got back from was a yoga retreat at Joyful Journey Hot Springs in southern Colorado.

It was 4 days packed with every single thing that relaxes me: mountain views, nature, hot springs, yoga, meditation, good food, and non-judgmental people. It was HEAVENLY. I don’t know if I have ever been so relaxed in my entire life honestly. Our days consisted of waking up, going for a sunrise walk, eating breakfast, doing yoga, eating lunch, hiking, more yoga, dinner, soak in the hot springs and then a meditation before bed. Like, come on.

My ONE regret was not bringing my watercolor paints to this retreat! I only brought one sketchbook and one pen, and the views from every direction were so stunning. UHG. See the art section above for what I did draw with the one pen I brought.

If you needed a sign to go on a retreat, let this be it. If you can’t find one you like, grab some of your friends on a free weekend and create your own! I’m sure we could all use a little R&R in this crazy world.

MEMES!

I have SO MANY memes that have built up over time. I’ll give you guys a sampling:

Okay that’s all for now! Feel free to leave comments at the bottom of this blog! Love u bye
